Emanuele Grossi is an Italian composer and improviser based in Hanover, Germany. His critical approach deals with the juxtaposition of different temporal and stylistic levels within a unified framework, often drawing close connections to the physical means of sound production, and self reflection on the musical performance act.
A native from Trentino, Italy - Emanuele Grossi graduated in classical guitar in Trento and studied composition in Hanover and Paris. In Hanover he joint neuMERZ an interdisciplinary studio for arts and curation as an active member and the brain behind "the Womb" concert and workshop series starting from 2025, centered on bottom up practices and experimental music as community driven experience.
His musical research is focused on relationships and communication, elaborated through the process between composer-musician-public, and studying practices and characteristics coming from different musical and art traditions, as well as a peculiar use of electronic music, centered on the modification and interactions of live sound sources.
I´m curating and organizing, together with Neumerz and in collaboration with Atelier Anthrazit, a Series of guerrilla spirits, DIY concerts and Workkshops in Hannover, inviting brave artists to show -how they do it-
Noise, Impro, Live Coding, DIY Instruments, Drones and Ambient, we want to have a look at the root of sounds from a New, approach. Stay tuned und join the slump!

Personae Imperfectae - for 11 players
Ensemble intercontemporain and Ensemble NEXT
Personae Imperfectae
Personae Imperfectae - (uncompleted masks) is a piece that tries to be music, as music often tries to be something else, or some other music. The concept of masking is interpreted in different ways : the acoustic-psychoacoustic effects of masking, with elements that sometimes cover each other, distorted quotes and imitations of cadences, and the musical mask as character, as stereotypes, as only an isolated version of a complex individuality: in the same way a person could be seen as the sum of the masks it decides to wear, the piece tries to find is unity between different small miniatures that sometimes overlap, masking or completing each other.
Ta Thanh Thien
Ta Thanh Thien - After being in Vietnam to study and research about A Dao from Vu Thuy Linh and Hoang Pham, my piece focused on new notations and on the live electronics to alter the time perception of A Dao singing. Fascinated by te incredible oral tradition of this genre, the piece takes different songs from the repertoire and cut it, repeat fragments, distorce the speed and the timing of the singing, creates feedback between recording and playing from the speakers. The voice of the player seems transposed in the past (Masters) and in the future (Scholars)
Per_Form
Per_form - The setting resemble a medical - physical test, the tuba player has a digital stethoscope attached to the body, with the sound going through the live electronic, so we can. constantly hear his struggle (heartbeat) going through the score, which is generated by a program on two screens, every time with differences.
We start then to see the player / performer from another point of view, as an individual struggling, aiming for perfection while the body has is materiality, and we may think about the entertainment industry and his tendency in becoming a cultural sport, with physically challenging trainings, stressful schedules, contests, prizes and in general competitions between players.
no,me...Auf_na(H)me_1(oHne)
no,me...Auf_na(H)me_1(oHne) - is an attempt to portray a personal but common state of disorientation caused by the sudden need to communicate in foreign languages. Through granulated recordings of my voice, four sound-speech traces moves into a theoretical inner space. The words in Italian, German and English are connected by mistranslations, assonances and strange relationships between languages
